Ipoh is located inland between Kuala Lumpur and Penang in the state of Perak.

Once a small village with tin deposits, Ipoh grew when it became a British Centre of Administration for the Malay Peninsula. Central Ipoh still retains this colonial character and the main Ipoh place to visit is this colonial centre.

In recent years, more investment into Ipoh has lead to not only a revitalised Old Town but a regeneration of its Malaysian-Chinese cuisine and culture.
